First-aid course for the driving licence in Stuttgart
For every licence class you need proof of first-aid training from a recognised provider. Here you can see providers – and how we know whether they are recognised.
What applies to the driving licence?
- First-aid course: 9 teaching units. At least 9 teaching units of 45 minutes at an officially recognised body; no expiry date. (§ 19 FeV)
- Earlier training in “Sofortmaßnahmen am Unfallort” (immediate life-saving measures at the scene of an accident) is not enough – it must be the first-aid course of 9 teaching units.
- If you have already provided the proof for another class, you don’t need to provide it again when adding a class.
- Exceptions include doctors and certain health and rescue professions (§ 19 Abs. 3 FeV).

How do you recognise an approved provider?
There are two routes to recognition (§ 68 Abs. 1 FeV):
- Officially recognised by the state authority. The responsible state authority announces these providers publicly. We haven’t yet integrated the official list for Baden-Württemberg.
- Authorised by the first-aid quality assurance body (Qualitätssicherungsstelle Erste Hilfe, QSEH) of the accident insurance bodies. Such providers count as recognised without separate recognition – that is why large aid organisations such as DRK, Johanniter, Malteser or ASB are usually not on the state list. We have not checked the QSEH status of individual providers; you can look it up in the official QSEH search ↗.
Where an entry has no label, we have no information on its recognition. Ask for confirmation before booking that the certificate is valid for the driving licence.
We haven’t recorded any first-aid providers for Stuttgart yet
We are adding to the directory continuously. Until then, you can find authorised providers in the search of the first-aid quality assurance body (QSEH).
